Salt Lake City day 1:

so i'm in salt lake city for the American Chemical Society's National Chemistry Convention, in other words, i'm at nerd fest in Mormon country. i'm really excited to be here be the HUGE nerd that i am. i mean last week i went to barns and noble three times! and each time was like a kid in a candy shop. moving on, i had to get up at 4 am gross. actually it was 4:12 am. i only know this because anna cook told me that i said it while i was waking up. so i get up and Dr. newhouse has to drive us to the airport (us being, Me, Geoff, Kaitie, Anna, Scott, Dave and Dr. Baldwin.) i am a morning person. so i am naturally talkative on the way to the airport at 5 am. yay for being annoying!! lol. before we get on the plane we compare seating arrangements. everone else in my group is between isles 20 and 22. my ticket says 35C, thats all the way in the back!! with strangers!! NOT COOL. so i asked if someone would switch seats with me. Dave being the awesome guy he is agreed to switch. but when we got on the plane i found out that i was sitting by Dr. Baldwin!! EEKK!! this is only bad becasue i had planned on sleeping on the plane and using whoever sat next to me as a pillow! NOT GONNA HAPPEN!! luckily, there was an empty seat next to scott, so i sat and napped there. it was nice, the secenery was beautiful! not bad for a 4 hour flight. we arrived in Salt Lake City and 9:35 am but they are 2 hours behind so really it was more like 11:35 and everyone was hungry. so we went to the hotel and unpacked and went to lunch at this awesome italian place. the food was AWESOME!!!and my birthday is tomorrow and when scott mentioned that the guy went and got me a cake!! it was red, white and green just like the italian flag. our waiter rocked!! we tipped him well. after stuffing ourselves we took a walk around the city, its so beautiful, the rocky mountains are the back drop for everything here! i love it! the weather is amazing too! its like 65 degrees! so warm! its like summer. after a little exploration everyone was really tired so we came back to the room and most of us are napping. i just thought i'd give you a little insight to my trip! more to come!
